i'm too tired to drive anyway, anyway right now

a few scenes from the California Pacific Coast Highway. it's really as gorgeous as they say. what they don't say is how carsick your husband will get from the winding cliff roads. no, they just don't tell you.

i took a shockingly small amount of photos during this trip considering what beauty we encountered. we were on a very tight timeline and we were usually racing to the city we needed to be for that night. when we weren't racing, our kids were peeing on the side of the road. often. so not many pictures, sadly, although i am so disgusted with my photos lately that i don't even want to touch my camera. is this where i really dig deep in myself and find the true artiste, or is it where i cry and beg my husband for a lens upgrade?

I know you're not asking for compliments, but you really do take amazing photos, Abby dear. I've been trying to pull out my standard lens more often because it's just nice to use it, you get more of the scene and not just the person. That's what I like about your photos.

Lens upgrade. But for the record, your photos are always beautiful. And as pretty as the PCH is, I try to avoid it at all costs. Carsickness is rarely worth it. I'd take the 101 any day.

first of all, you take amazing photos.

but i know what you mean - i've been feeling the same way lately about my pictures. so i stop taking them. then i stop blogging. and the sad thing is, i have a nice lens so i can't even blame it on that. (i feel like when i upgraded my camera equipment my photos actually got worse somehow - maybe i stopped trying?)

i want to transport myself to the places in these photos right now.

That middle picture makes me feel like I'm in a Jane Austin book or something.

You are one of the best photographers I know. I'm not kidding when I say that. But, I am sad that you didn't take that many pictures on your trip.

I was so happy when you called last week. I'll call you back this week. I really miss you.

Oh and I wish I could "like" blog comments like you can on FB because I would "like" robin's comments all the time. She's so funny.

I got sick on our honeymoon when we drove that route, so I couldn't really enjoy the scenery then... thanks for a peek!

By the way, I spoke with your mom the other day.... :)

Abby I love your photographs! I feel like I need to take lessons from you! I seriously can't ever seem to get my exposure right, and it's driving me crazy! I feel like it's going to take me forever to learn to take pictures like I want them to be. Moral of the story... I have very similar feelings about taking photos myself.
