and "io io io!" by priest and people sungen

10 december

two nativity lambs. one was very sweet and reverent and the other writhed all over the floor and acted like a bucking bronco.

 11 december

the kids clearly take their wrapping cues from me. or me from them. either way, the theme of this christmas is "whole lotta feathers and ric-rac." i just wrapped a present for jamie that says, "with love, the beeper king." i think i'm hilarious.

12 december

the fishbowl that i washed YESTERDAY and is now filthy. we had one fish named four-eyes. then we gained two more at oliver's 1st birthday party. these were suzie and suck-ups. suck-ups died on the way home and the kids did not stop sobbing for a full half-hour. i mean, literal wailing. the best part was milo calling up my mom to tell her the news and she doing her best not to roar with laughter. it's hard to take a fish named suck-ups seriously. "i miss suck-ups! suuuuck-uuuuuuuups!"

so four-eyes has been renamed suck-ups. the best part is that after cleaning out the bowl (YESTERDAY), suck-ups II started floating up sideways to the top. i was bracing myself for the wails. jamie said, "wait, if you flick them they stay alive, i swear." a few flicks later and suck-ups is alive to tell the story. scout's honor, that fish was seconds away from dying. looks like that one semester of med school really paid off.

maybe i will keep trying with photo-a-day.

I can't breathe! I can't stop laughing. oh, my, oh, my.
Where do these names come from? Flicking a fish to keep it alive? Really, Jamie?! This post made my day.

Hello,

Thanks for sharing the link - but unfortunately it seems to be down? Does anybody here at miloissweet.blogspot.com have a mirror or another source?

Cheers,
William

Your package wrappings are really cool. I would never have thought to be so creative.

The fish story is just as hilarious in your blog post as it was the first time I heard it. I honestly feel sorry that you had to deal with crying children just because I was too cheap and bought the fifteen cent fish instead of the $2.50 kind. :)

I love your wrapping. One of my dream jobs is to be a professional gift wrapper.

you continue to be my inspiration. i've gotten behind on my photo-a-day. life got in the way i guess. maybe i'll jump back in the saddle again too.

it's sad when fishies die. tell milo and pearl we are sad for them too. it reminded me of our fish edgar when i was a kid. he committed fish-a-cide. no joke. it involved a needle and thread on the counter.

remind me and i'll tell ya the story one day.

I need clarification. I think it was Milo who was writhing, but then I look at the picture and there's another kid totally writhing to Milo's left. So he wasn't the most wiggly kid up there, right? That's the best you can hope for: not to have the worst-behaved kid.

Abby, you're hilarious. And I do not note a single bit of bitterness over med school, do I? Poor suck-ups:)

hilarious. i don't really like to admit this but i have a problem with any kind of animal- i absolutely love torturing them. i remember this one fish my roommate had and every time she left i would try to make the fish mad because it was too much fun.(and she told me that if it gets mad, it tenses up and dies) but maybe i'll have to refrain from this sort of thing when i have kids.

the gifts are so cutely wrapped! i just bought a pom pom maker (best $6 purchase ever) and i've been putting them on little boxes and it makes me feel really cute when i'm all finished.

and ya, emma watson's hair. i am so obsessed with it.

pearl has got to be the prettiest little girl who isn't my child.

seriously.

there's got to be a way you can make moral-friendly money off of her.
