score one for taylor hall!

I will never forget when I got matched with my freshman roommate, Valerie, the summer before college and she sent me that first email and a photo. She was gorgeous! And accomplished in every way! I was so bugged. Then we met and she was the nicest person in the whole world. Not hyperbole, I'm serious. Eleven years have passed and she's still one of my closest friends. And she takes photos. Good ones:

I've never done the mom and newborn photo thing before, mostly because I'd rather hide out those first few months postpartum than preserve 30 extra pounds on film forever. And the trendy newborn photo shoots with props are cute but not my style. But I am so so pleased with these. And amazed that she took these photos in my house which has the worst lighting ever. And dying at how little Golden was. It's gone too fast! So glad I have these photos to remember that stage. I'll love these forever.

P.S. Valerie has a pretty, new website if you're interested in seeing more of her work or booking her.

You are gorgeous! Your new baby is beautiful! I have been following your blog forever but can't remember where you live now, but I don't think it is near SLC, UT, right? I looked at Valerie's website and would love to book her but couldn't tell where she was located. Thanks for sharing these very precious pictures.

Abs, it is just like you to say such kind words. I'll forever be grateful that out of all the roommates I could have had, we happened to get matched up! And when you were up for a late night hike our first night there, and the next night wanted to walk to get hair dye at midnight, I knew we were onto something special. ;) So glad 11 years later I could help you preserve such a sweet moment in time with Baby Golden. Love ya!
