a giveaway in which we bear our souls and tell the most appalling secrets (CLOSED)

it's oprah time again!

my super-talented, super-go-getter friend brooke has opened an etsy shop called bugaboo prints. it's full of darling prints for your child's room. although, really, my favorite is the flyaway flowers (below) and i plan on hanging that in my living room.(i mean when we get a living room. soon.) most of her prints are customizable as well!

brooke has generously offered a print of choice to one lucky winner!

they're so cute!

to enter, check out her shop and then tell me your favorite book ever. EVER! this is definitive. your choice goes down in the annals of my blog for eternity.

your other option is to tell me which movie you'd rather live in: sense & sensibility (emma thompson version obv), pride & prejudice (either version)*, little women (winona & mr. bale), or the sound of music. that is such a hard choice guys. but i can't give you something for nothing. you've got to sacrifice a little.

giveaway ends on fridayish.

*did anyone else recognize jane bennett in the king's speech? and did anyone else notice what a goofy job they did of editing to make it PG-13? i mean, i'm glad they did it, but it was really goofy.

Hmmmm.... my favorite ever? Well, since I have the memory of a gnat when it comes to things like this, I will say "The Help." I really, really liked it. And, I read it recently, so I remember that I really, really liked it:) (By the way, I read it because I saw that you recommended it on your blog. Does that give me extra points?? :)

Bethany said...

Hah hah-- so I'm not "Sahuaro Ranch" (sorry-- I was still signed in from our RS email-- I'm the RS secretary:) It's me- Bethany:)

man. you weren't kidding when you said what movie i'd rather live in!

p&p was my first reaction (new version) but then once you really think about, their house and yard look dirty/muddy. so that squelched that for me quick. i'm going with little woman- coming from a girl with no sisters, i always (and still do) wished for that type of sisterly bond. plus laurie's hot.

and BONUS! favorite book ever?! Les Miserables. it's close to the book of mormon for me. (duh.. bom is the winner, but that's such a primary answer!) and i LOVE love LOVE pride and prejudice.

and that's my novel of a comment for you.

oh gosh. whew. my fave book ever?? if i say something like to kill a mockingbird i sound cool but trendy and kind of intellectual but if i say my sisters keeper or a jennifer wiener book than i sound like a chick litter and then if i do harry potter will i be judged??? ahhh! i dont know!! lets just say little women because, hello, christian bale and the outfits. ill say that. love these prints!

Kim said...

Little Women all the way. I wouldn't want to be Amy, but I WOULD want to hook up with Laurie...but I think I would still want to be Jo.
Love that book, love that movie.

Tippetts said...

Favorite book: To Kill a Mockingbird. And I have to throw a shout out for The Sound of Music - I would choose that one for the locale. Austria! Plus the fashion.

Dandi said...

Pride and Prejudice Movie. I watch it often when folding laundry! Love it.

Elaine said...

I'd pick sense & sensibility. Thanks :)

David and Shalynna said...

These are darling! I love the monster alphabet from her shop.

You know my new favorite book right now- Gone with the Wind. Pride and Prejudice was always my favorite book before I read GWtW, so that is probably the movie I'd pick to live in. I just love the happy ending. Plus Mr. Darcy is a studmuffin. I love his "quizzical brow." :)

Erin said...

Those prints are the cutest I have ever seen! My favorite book is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle.

omygosh why couldn't I have found this shop when I was decorating my nursery?? so cute. recent reader, first time commenter...have to say how much i'd LOVE to live at Pemberly!! WITH mr. darcy :) and favorites are so hard, but...hmm... i did love the count of monte cristo and nobody has said that yet!

remi said...

boy nicknames print, duh.

also, since you didn't include High School Musical, I'll have to choose the next best thing: TSOM. which proves that I am past due watching it over and over again.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. book club, get ready because I'm forcing you to read it next!

Ashley said...

You totally make me smile woman! :0D

My all time favorite book is the Count of Monte Cristo. I would love to live in the Pride and Prejudice (A&E version!) mostly because that is my second favorite book of all time.

:)

That was fun!

All time Favorite book - Les Miserable

The best book ever written: Jane Eyre. This book has it all: a heroine I would actually want to emulate, an imperfect, real and rich love interest, murder, mystery, heartache, forgiveness. I even convinced my husband to read a good chunk of the book. He said it was spooky!

Tatum said...

Book: "Hearts in Hiding" It's actually an LDS Romance novel but one that I can read over and over.

Place: That's hard but I would have to go with P&P as long as Mr Darcy is there. I'm in!

Val and Dan said...

Oh you are just wicked for making us choose! OK- I would have to say Pride and Prejudice (new version)JUST for the scene in the rain. Halfway between typing this I stopped to watch the clips again. and again. It gets me every single time.

I don't think my last comment worked. I clicked the wrong thing! This is Jenny Clark! Maybe you remember me...ha ha. So this is a fun giveaway but I don't really read!! I guess the scriptures are my fav cause that's all I read right now. I keep busy with my own etsy shop! If you haven't seen it...you should check it out too! How are you guys doing? I haven't looked at your blog in forever!!

1) I don't know you, but I know Brooke, and I think it's funny that you just called me hot stuff.
2) Best book I've EVER read...Clearly, it would be Where Is the Green Sheep? with Anna Karenina coming in a close second.
3) I want every single print in Brooke's shop. Every one. But mostly Buckle My Shoe.
4) Why is no one choosing Sense and Sensibility? Oh, because it's not as good? I say TSOM, but concur with the High School Musical comment. Team Troy.

Megan T. said...

Totally the Sound of Music! I always wish I could sing my way through life.

K said...

Just stumbled across your blog - great stuff!

Favorite book ever: I Capture the Castle. I never go on an airplane without it!

Siggy said...

I am so excited to see Brooke doing this! As for my favorite book, which is soooo hard to decide, I would have to say that Jane Eyre will always be my go to book but it is quickly being followed by The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society!

Leslie said...

crap. i think i've seen 2 of the show thingies you mentioned living in. so of those two, i choose pride and prejudice, cause nazis? no thanks. :/

and why did **I** know about brooke's etsy shop? and where's MY give away on your little bloggy blog part of the bloggy world? we should talk about that. i'll send you something. :)

soo... pick me, this is what i'm getting at here.

favorite book ever?? i don't read too much. BUT, i really love Return to Red Mountain. (i think that's what it's called. see how much i love it?) not long, but good. love it. my copy is tattered and falling apart. it's been well loved.

(if the title is different, i'll let ya know later, yes?) :) thanks doll!

Abs: totally noticed her in King's Speech...glad you did as well. Doesn't she look a lot like Maryl Streep? Anyways...I want to play, but I'm going to change it a bit and share one of my favorite short stories:

The Waltz by Dorothy Parker.

Love ya!

kristen said...

Yay Brooke! When I was little my favorite book was Matilda and I used to tell everyone. Now I have too many fav books so I'll stick with that one. :) such cute prints!

Jill said...

i think one of my favorite books ever was tale of two cities. but for a silly read i love the princes dairies.

as for the movie that i would love to live in. pride and prejudice hands down. mr. darcy can still my heart away any time.

the print that i would love is the monster alphabet. brooke, you are so talented!!!! i didn't even know you did this. i loved them all!

Jenna Anderson said...

I would have to say my favorite book right now is My Name is Memory. It is hard to choose though. I love the prints and I can't decide between the Monster Alphabet or Lets Roll. Way to go Brooke!

Eliza said...

The Sound of Music is my favorite movie but I could never live in it. How has no one here mentioned how scary Nazis are?? The other choices are hard. My gut answer is Sense & Sensibility. Although I love the relationships among the sisters and Marmee in Little Women.

I have had different favorite books at different times in my life. My all-time favorite literary character is Betsy Ray. If you haven't read the Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace, you should. They follow her from age 5 until she gets married, set in Minnesota near the turn of the century. Love love love; I have re-read the high school/college/marriage books a hundred times. They never ever get old.

Only a year ago I read These Is My Words and I absolutely LOVED that book. I think once I read it again a few times (as I'm sure to) it might become an official favorite.

Unknown said...

I'd love to live in the movie The Sound of Music!! I want to sing and dance all over the hills of Austria just like Maria.... it's just what I have always dreamed of :) Hope I win the customizable nicknames print!

Jessica said...

my favorite book of all time....Wuthering Heights. So much drama. love it.

This would be easy if I knew what I was having. But if I have a girl, I would like the apple of my daddy's eye and if I have a boy the customizable nicknames!

Angela said...

I would live in Pride and Prejudice, the Keira Knightley version. I know, I know everyone's going to hate me for picking that one, but I do. I can't help it!

MaryPosa said...

Oh! To be a Dashwood and attend dances and spend a season in London and wear my hair in little ringlet curls... (I pick Sense and Sensibility. Pokey hall, fire that smokes, and everything. P.S. Hugh Laurie in that movie is one of my favorite things ever.)

Favorite book you say? You might as well ask me to pick my favorite child. However, Peter Pan is my favorite favorite, with the Count of Monte Cristo coming in at a close second.

Anonymous said...

hmmmm...i would have to say that my favorite book (although it makes me nervous to pin it down to one), (it's like picking a favorite child.) is Left to Tell.

as far as living in a movie...while i love sound of music, no thank you. I would pick a different bag of trials not named the Nazis, but named whatever illness sweet beth had. So i would pick little women, if not just to hold hands in a circle and sing for the beauty of the earth.

p.s. i love that i have this awesome list of books to read now:).

OK.

1. super cute shop! Love the flower one too! I would totally hang that in my room or living room if I had one.

favorite book ever would have to be Anne of Avonlea and I would totally live in Sound of Music... as long as I got to wear the clothes made from the curtains!

Kimbal&Becca said...

So my favorite book is The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold or Song of Exile, by Kiana Davenport. I can't decide which one I like better.

Love the animal ABCs!!!

okay-- i'll enter too-- super cute prints brooke! my favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. I plan on naming my third child Atticus, boy or girl.

Unknown said...

I LOVE her designs! I think I'd have too hard of a time picking.

I haven't read too many books but I think I really like The Hunger games. The first book was my favorite. The third was my least favorite.

And then I'd live in Pride and Prejudice because Mr. Darcy is hott! But then again, it might be Sound of Music because I'd love to just run around town singing while wearing drapes :)

Allred Fam said...

ok so my fave 2 books are the only 2 written by Leif Enger- So Brave, Young, and Handsome AND Peace Like a River. Love them- he needs to write more.

Sarah said...

These prints are adorable! Love all of Brooke's creations on etsy.

Pride and Prejudice for sure. I prefer the Colin Firth version, but let's be honest, I'll still take Matthew Macfadyen!

Unknown said...

I had no idea Brooke had an etsy shop with cute things!! My favorite book of all time is The Count of Monte Cristo. Movie I'd like to live in: Little Women, and mostly because of Christian Bale. sigh. Hope I win!!

my favorite book growing up was number the stars. it was my first glimpse into what life was like for so many people during WW2. for an 8-year-old, it was an eye opener.
and thought i absolutely love pride & prejudice, i am very partial to little women. reminds me of my sisters (a). and (b), hello, christian bale.
love these prints, too. my 2-year-old just moved into his "big boy room" complete with trucks, tractors and the like. that LETS ROLL print must be his.
