dahling

these are some books i think are beautiful.

i picked up seasons at the library and i think it is the loveliest picture book ever. i'm going to ask for it for my birthday.

santa (also know as moi) brought me this journal. the concept is brilliant for us non-journalers. you write a few short sentences every day. very brief. you have 6 short lines. and it is a 5 year journal, so all the january 14s are on the same page, and so on. you can compare what you were doing that same day in a different year. i love it! i look forward to writing in my journal every night. that's never happened to me before. and it's the most beautiful blue color and the handiest little pocket size.

a sweet sister and brother of mine sent us these books for christmas. they are GORGEOUS. pictures do not do justice. not to mention they are two of my favorite books. i look forward to collecting the others.

 the end.

I have been looking at the journal for months and tried to buy one for me and for molly for Christmas but they were sold out and/or marked way up for Christmas. So I've been doing the journal a day in another small notebook, but I want to transfer everything when I can find the actual book. Glad you're doing it. I have to say, I really look forward to journaling now too. I love that it's low pressure.

abby where can i get that journal?

i bought it here and it was a 30% off sale they have sometimes. it looks like it's sold out there and on amazon which is weird! i guess because it's the new year and that's when people start stuff like that. i'd just keep checking back. i think it's only like $12 on amazon usually.

emily- we got the quilt from jamie's grandma sharp. she didn't make it for us, she was just getting rid of stuff.

I hesitate in writing this, and actually stopped myself from commenting on your "2010 favorites" post because I felt inferior.

I made a goal this year to read 5, yes FIVE new books.

And I was absolutely tickled about it.

But I'm an avid journaler.....does that count for anything?

abby said...

yes that does count for a lot! you are actively documenting your life! i'm just sitting around reading other people's stories. but seriously, no one needs to feel bad about how many books i read because that was pretty much all i did last year. i read more books than i cooked meals probably. it's my only real talent.

Just wanted to say that I am reading Jane Eyre right now! (for the first time) I'm not even very far into it and I already love it!

Abby, thanks for the journal idea, and Sarah, thanks for giving me the idea to get it for Rachael for her b-day--it will be perfect! And Abby, I just wanted to tell you how much I love your blog; it is so pretty and charming and you're a great photographer, just like the rest of your family. (Reading as your "only talent?" I don't think so.) I love reading it, but also love just looking at it, which is just as much fun. :)

I LOVE that idea for a journal-- what a fun concept! I'm going to have to see if our library has that children's book. I'm always looking for new and interesting ones!

Aren't books just the bees knees? I love/hate journals. I love buying them, I love imagining all the amazing things i'm going to write in them, the promise of a good story waiting to unfold. I love pretty journals and then start hating them the moment I realize A) i'm to scared to write something stupid, like a shopping list in them (which I always seem to do) and B) looking at them 3 years later only to realize they are full of nothing but shopping lists, and random, undated thoughts. Gah. I even specifically purchased a purse that would be big enough to keep a notebook/journal with me always. Instead i use the space for library books. Oh well :)

that seasons book IS beautiful, and I too LOVE that journal idea. My last journal entry reads: "Today I found out I was pregnant with baby number two".
ummm yeah.

I am going to have to get me a copy of that seasons.
I have been writing a few lines in my journal for quite a while now-it is the only way I can do it.
