shout hooray
my first-born child, the beautiful boy that made me a mother, the little person that forever changed my life, turned four yesterday. as you may know, three-year-olds talk about their birthdays for 364 days of the year, so i had some anxiety about how the day would go.
luckily, we met a darling family at church on sunday who have boys the exact same age as milo and pearl. i was beyond glad to see them. and they're just starting school too. (and if you want to read a blog with good detail on school and the island and all that, go there. she is good! i am not.) they live at a hotel, so janae was very kind and let us come over to swim and play with their toys. i had to take a taxi with just the kids to get there and it may have been scary and pearl may have screamed the whole time and milo may have insisted on sitting in the back by himself, but we made it. and we ate pizza at the marriott, which is like disneyland. and milo had a fabulous birthday. i think as long as star wars legos were involved, he was going to be fine.
if you ever need to wrap gifts and you have just moved to a tropical island without an inch of wrapping paper to your name, use aluminum foil.
and to those of you worried about my mental sanity, we have had a couple of really good days! and i was able to buy windex and cheerios today! so worry no more.

It makes me so happy that Jamie packed that. You are always so creative!
We are already talking about coming to visit you. We will visit you. Now I just need to find a job so that we are making enough money to have some extra for tickets, etc.! It's only a three hour plane ride from NYC! (right?)
Happy Birthday, Milo!
I am glad to hear you are having good days. thank you for keeping us updated on your journey!
I love your sign, so awesome. It's going to come in handy down here, that's for sure. I'm so glad you came down that day, even if Bouncer stood you up. I haven't ventured out like that on my own yet, you are my hero!
Yhea for new friends, resourceful mothers, windex and cheerios!
