this made me cry today
it might not make you cry because to be honest i've just been a little cuckoo lately. but it's still pretty great.
*i forgot to add what i'm thankful for. today i'm thankful for a son who has started asking questions that are impossible (for me) to answer: "how do you spell S?" "can chickens swim?" "how do you ice skate?" "what's a balcony?" if anyone knows how to answer those in 3-year-old terms, i could use help.

K, this may be weird of me and freak you out and I'll be the reason you go private but- I think you are the gal that sat next to me in Nicole's class this month! I am like 99% sure. I found you from Angela and Aaron's blog! She went to my high school/jr high. Okay that's it, wonderful blog BTW! and so sorry if this is wrong person, I'm at least half sane, I promise.
ha! yes, it's me! do you have a blog?
Good video. I'm thankful for Hot Chocolate and Apple Cider on cold days like today.
Those are darling questions, how do kids become so clever?
And when I think about it more, he is thinking that the adult or mom is the smart one who can answer the questions but really he is so smart for trying to figure out these types of things....love it.
thanks for sharing that video. I haven't seen that one yet.
yeah. i cried too. it didn't help having a chubby, happy 3 month old on my lap.
would it be too cheesy to show that at thanksgiving to get the wheels turning?
thought so.
tucker routinely asks me math questions every night before bed. "what's plus 80 plus 80? what's plus 160 plus 160?" and so forth. (and yes he says plus before the first number too)
I love the idea that it actually WOULD spoil some vast eternal plan if Tevya were a wealthy man. It brings into sharp focus how our adversities are supposed to act in our lives. Not that I like it but it is true. And having had a very rough year I have seen it in my life.
I don't know if you actually wanted help but I couldn't resist the challenge.
1)You can actually spell a letter. You just spell it phonetically like this "es". This one came up at our house once. And you can use it in scrabble too, which is nice.
2)yes. chickens actually can swim. they look like ducks when they are doing it and there are many delightful youtube videos to prove it.
3)Its alot like sliding on a wood floor but on ice and in different shoes.
4)when in doubt show them a picture.
it probably doesn't make you feel any better, but this made me cry, too. thanks for sharing. love those mormon messages.
i'm thankful for the youtube link to the pirated copy of the bbc's emma you shared a few days ago. damon and i are almost through the series. love stuff like that. thanks for sharing!
oh i just loved that. thanks for posting this.
lovely. a wonderful reminder of what we should be focused on as we start the holiday season :)
I saw this the other day and loved it! I'm grateful for fun memories with you and your family. Like the time we got kicked out of the park. Or when your car got towed. Or when ours got stolen. ;)
I love these mormon messages. What a great way to get out a wonderful message of thankfulness!
Oh Abby, I needed this so badly today. It made cry, too, although I've also been a little cuckoo lately. We need to talk soon I think.
If only I could always remember to be grateful, even in adversity.
Awesome video, Abbie. Loved it. And here's my question: would it spoil some vast eternal plan if it were less noisy at my house?
I think we'll get to see you over the upcoming break!
Oh Abby- I miss you! I'm thankful for awesome relief society presidents, who are incredible examples-- In SO many ways. I only got to know you for a few months, but the example you were to me will stick forever. truly.
How are you anyway? If you're ever out this way I would love to get together.
Thanks for sharing. I cried too, but I am just a cry baby cry face. :) Have a great thanksgiving!
No Milo, chickens can't swim. But it would be funny if they did/could.
Yours Truly--chickens can swim?! Wow! That is pretty darn cool.
Ezra asked me what a balcony was the other day too. I was stumped for a minute and then said "a high porch with a fence around it." It sounds like a lame-o answer now that I see it all typed out. Am I eve right?!
;-)
OK, I watched the video. It made me cry too.
I have been thinking about adversity and gratitude a lot lately. And the craziest thing is that I thought about Tevye singing "If I Were a Rich Man" the other day and how the adversity in his life made him stronger. So I was kinda surprised when I saw that part of the video. It felt a little like I was being whispered something.
I have been focusing on the struggles of my life over the last few years so much lately. And I think it is time I start being grateful for the personal refining I am going through.
Abby--you are awesome.
I loved this! I hadn't seen it yet and yesterday I wanted to watch it, but I was in the quiet part of the library. So, it was a great start to my day today. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I loved it. I am thankful for you Abby, for your determination to succeed when life is hard.
awww...i cried at the macaroni and cheese mom part. i am thankful for the ways i can help people. friends and family and all that but my babies too. i love being able to make everything all better with a little cuddle and some nice words.
abby dear.
sorry to make you depressed with news of Swell Season.
it really was rocking. i'm bummed that they're sold out in utah. i really think we would've have tried to see them again. i'm even more bummed that you don't get to see them either.
as for thanksgiving, we're going to st.george. are you guys coming to az? bummer if so. it really would be fun to meet you!
oh, and what's your address? i want to send you something.
will you email me?
k8bess@gmail.com :)
i cried too.
