success

i made this shirt for pearl yesterday. it was a day in which i was feeling so sorry for myself that i wasn't laying on the beach. so i started to try to be productive by sewing, which in turn gave me a headache. but i made a shirt for pearl and it turned out pretty good! i was really proud of myself and james is good at acting like i'm the next coco chanel or something. but really i didn't make up the pattern. i followed this great tutorial with sizing adjustments by the talented dana. it was supposed to have ruffle sleeves but i cut them too small and didn't want to increase my headache by re-cutting, so they are just plain old straps. and i added pockets. and i had no one's help. which is probably my proudest part. baby steps...

anyway, that's all! brag brag brag.

So cute! Did you ever take a sewing class at BYU? I think I cried more in that class than any other class, but I still loved it. I can't wait to have a little girl someday so that I can make cute shirts like this one and take adorable photos also (she makes for a great little model- she is so darling!).

Maybe you can help me with a future sewing project. I want to make a white linen, button down, collared shirt with matching pants for our baby boy for a blessing outfit (if the blessing ends up being more towards the spring). Start practicing! :)

Today's the 31st... I sure hope you guys find more success with regards to Cayman, decisions, etc. Good luck!

You did a really great job, Abby. Sewing gives me a headache, too, though I'm glad my mom taught me how! You should seriously consider being a photographer on the side....

It is absolutely darling! I get a headache just thinking of pulling out my sewing machine. It and I do not get a long. Congrats for doing something wonderful when you were feeling blah.

Your shirt is wonderful! And Pearl will be just as prescious wearing it here as she would be on some tropical island.

Did you see the "Coco Before Chanel" movie previews? We should all done our pearls (necklaces in this case) in a tribute to her brave life!
