1992ish

today i was thinking about the best christmas i can remember. i'm pretty sure it's the christmas when we opened a piece of paper that said, "look outside," and we looked outside and there was a trampoline! i also think that was the christmas that we got a normal t.v. to replace our 10-inch black-and-white one. or was it the color one that we had to hit on the side every 10 seconds when it went black? regardless, the new t.v. was appreciated. i also think ryan bought me the chronicles of narnia boxed set.

i hope someday i can buy my kids a real-life trampoline for christmas instead of, like, a wii fit trampoline game. although, let's be honest, i really want a wii fit.

What? How do you remember that stuff? I remember the trampoline and that's it. Sot of the hitting the tv bit. Also, you got taffy from Sarah? Please share!

What? You got taffy from Sarah?
About the TV: If there was a new one at Christmas, it was given to us. We have never purchased a TV until we bought this flat screen a year ago. All other TVs were donated to us. And the kids, headed up by Ryan, gave us one for Christmas a decade or so ago. Oh, and I won that black and white at the Fruitland School carnival.
The trampoline was my most fun present to give! I was so excited! It served us well for many years, in spite of a foot injury for Sarah, and a vomiting incident in the middle of the night when Sarah's friends were sleeping with their heads all in the middle. Seems like yesterday. ag

Um, I hate to break the news, but the trampoline Christmas was either 1984 or 1985. You were either not born or very small. (Unless the parents repeated that same gift in later years.) It was a GREAT Christmas for me. The options were Tramp or Computer. Ryan and I both begged and put in our votes. Alas, the computer in 1985 was just too expensive. And so I got to do my footloose routines on a shiny new trampoline to my heart's content.

i lived for that trampoline. routines were choreographed and lives were changed.

people, people, people. your facts are all wrong. (except eliza. hers is 100% truth. we could do one heck of a triple lutz on the tramp.) what happened was all the older kids (ryan, sarah, emily) put money together to surprise us all with a t.v. i remember it very very clearly. and also, you may have had a tramp in kennewick, but we got a new one in glendale. it was very exciting for me and i remember it well. i wish neil would chime in here.

i think you guys hid the t.v. in the pantry. ask ryan.

Funny thing- I totally have memories of watching Jeopardy at your house on a black and white television. (while waiting for my beloved piano lessons.)

And although I despise video games-I am excited about our fit for Christmas. :)

oh goodness, i remember when my sister and i got our trampoline! the jaws of life couldn't rip us off that thing...until i had an unfortunate double bouncing accident and flew off. then we got the nets around the side for some much needed safety (we're a bit accident prone)
