i love my husband and i love lists

Angela tagged me. I am going to list 6 things about Jamie instead of me, though. He's more interesting than I. (Please ignore me in that picture. All of our photos are in a box somewhere.)

1. Jamie swallows every piece of gum he puts in his mouth within 30 seconds of entry. In other words: Don't share your gum with him.

2. If you need a haircut, your car fixed, dinner cooked, the history of WWII explained, a piece of furniture constructed, clothes mended, a picture painted, or a precise budget calculated, Jamie is your man.

3. Jamie is my own personal Survivorman/Bear Grylls. Sometimes he gets teased about it, but if you are stuck in the wilderness you want to be with him. He knows everything about survival. Seriously.

4. He went on an LDS mission to Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, learned some Mandarin, and came back in love with Asian culture. When we were first dating I saw that my phone number in his cell phone was labeled "Abby shi mei li." It took me days to figure out that it meant, "Abby is beautiful." He's a keeper.

5. Jamie cannot end a conversation very well. I try to teach him but he thinks it is rude that I'm like, "Ok, bye."

6. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but one of his favorite movies is Pride and Prejudice. We love watching it together and laughing at Mr. Collins. Then his other favorite movie is probably something like Bourne Identity, so it's all good.

Yeah for Jamie!

Jamie, I didn't know you were a P&P fan or a history buff. So well rounded you are. Also who is Bear Grylls?

abby said...

Well he did major in history...
Bear Grylls is the host of Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel.

Oh, my bad. I forgot he was a history major. And my bad again: I've watched M vs W, but never known the hosts name.

Good show, huh?

That Jamie sounds like a fascinating fellow, and dashing to boot. Some might refer to him as a Renaissance man. I've heard his Chinese is better than you give him credit, oh my sweet wonderful wife. She really is too kind, I think I'll keep her. Stay tuned for a 6 best of Abby Sharp penned by one Jamie Sharp. Yours truly, The "gum lover"

May I add to Jamie's talent list;
He loves home projects, and we have been the beneficiaries of a ceiling fan installation, sanded and painted kitchen cabinets, new lighting and reconstruction of kitchen ceiling, and he's itching for the next project this Christmas-sanded and stained parquet kitchen floor. He has also worked on our cars, and pretty much offered to fix anything that is broken around here.
I really enjoy his sense of humor, and he has a wonderful laugh!
He's dynamite around kids! They adore him!
I could go on, but humble Jamie's probably not handling this well. Amye

As his sister, I think I can add that he was GREAT at scaring the living daylights out of me while growing up. We used to fight and wrestle a lot, too. And, we used to beg him to make us food and he *always* would. I could hate his guts one minute and love him like crazy the next. James was our funny little brother, who has grown up into an amazing man that I am *very* proud to call my brother.

Plus, my kids ADORE him. :-)

I love ya James!

PS. I didn't know you swallowed your gum. Remember what Roger always said? Seven years, bud. Seven years ...

By the way James, Tim also likes Pride & Prejudice (the BBC version). We watched it while we were in Haiti on my laptop. One night Tim had to go help give a blessing, and so I watched an hour without him. When he got back to our hotel room, he was like, "What?! You watched it without me?!" Then we had to watch that hour all over again. I think it's very manly to like P&P. :-) Honestly.

And Mr. Collins IS a riot. But I really love Colin Firth. He is the perfect Mr. Darcy. (He's also really great in The Importance of Being Ernest--another terrific movie.)

If Tim watches it, then it's ok! I need to see that movie. I think you'd told me it was good. Our favorite P+P is the 6-hour one. Mr. Collins is the best on that one. And don't get me started on Mr. Firth...

lol ladies, don't you know Mr Firth is ALL mine, why do you think I live here ;)

Jamie is the best. Of course I am slightly biased. But I do love his company. It is always fun to have Jamie around. After you guys left on Thanksgiving, Jax went on and on about how great Uncle Jamie is. He loved that Jamie drew with him and he loved the gun, hunting and outdoors talk. from Amy

I've always found Jaime to be one the more handsome friends of mine. Abby, don't leave out the fact that he is an accomplished amateur boxer. He proved that in a tough-man competetion circa 1999.
