popover sundress

here are some bad pictures of a dress i made for pearl this week. the beautiful fabric is moda and was a birthday present from my wonderful sister sarah. as with all my projects, there is some definite wonkiness (weird hem, weird straps, blech.), but i really think it's cute! it's a free pattern from oliver & sgood for beginners like me.

  3. I LOVE it! That fabric is darling, darling. The yellows and grays were so pretty together and I love the scalloped edge. What a cute touch.

I'm so glad you shared the free pattern. Maybe someday I'll make one too.

And Pearl looks just so adorable in it. I love her.

  5. I love it! I printed it off so I can try to make it. I could very well screw it up though I am a begginer to sewing, but I'm enthusiastic to try!

  6. Adorable! I'm really impressed, considering you are calling yourself a beginner (pretty sure I couldn't even cut that pattern out properly:). It really is too bad we aren't on the same island, I could use some creative company!

  7. I'm just wondering if you have anything you DON'T do perfectly or what talent you DON'T have.

I am loving this. Adore the fabric. And I think it'd make a perfect swim cover-up for a big someone like me.

  11. I'm so impressed! I can barely sew buttons back on my coats, so you are light-years ahead of me!

  12. That is so adorable. Pearl looks like she belongs in the forties. A mini and modest pin up girl .

  13. Man...you and Beth...overachievers. I just sat and talked, ate a lot of food, and screwed up Beth's machine. Reminds me of young women project activities...those were the days!!! Maybe one day I'll piece together Mia's skirt...I suppose we'll just have to have another sewing day to help me with that one!

  14. I am of the kind who can barely sew buttons back on coats, so to me, that dress looks incredibly cute, esp. for being "homemade".

  25. Hi Abby, I'm sure you don't remember me but I'm an old friend of Sarah's from when you were a baby in Kennewick (crazy, I know.) Hope you don't mind that I check in on you Godfreys every now and then. I have never commented, but just have to comment on this priceless photo b/c your daughter looks exactly like you did at that age--just absolutely adorable. And I agree w/Sarah--you are ambitious and talented. Love the fabric, love the dress, and not surprised that your stylish sister got it for you. Hope I haven't creeped you out with my comment. Your family is so cute and your blog is really fun to read--so cool what you're doing down in St. Kitts. You are one brave, strong young mother. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
