Blogging is awesome.

Emily called me last night to tell me I had won a Design Mom giveaway. Hot dog! There were over 600 comments, but I won $150 to Zutano Clothing. I am really really excited.

I've been blogging about a year. Sometimes I check people's blogs like it's my job, so I guess you could say I just got my first paycheck. Not even close to minimum wage, but oh well.

Thanks Design Mom! (She is doing four giveaways a day all this week, so go enter!)

Pearl at 4 months

All you need to know:

She laughs.
She rolls over.
She simultaneously smiles hugely, throws her head back, and brings her arms together. It is a little bit reminiscent of Ray Charles. Cute man. Cute girl.

i love my husband and i love lists

Angela tagged me. I am going to list 6 things about Jamie instead of me, though. He's more interesting than I. (Please ignore me in that picture. All of our photos are in a box somewhere.)

1. Jamie swallows every piece of gum he puts in his mouth within 30 seconds of entry. In other words: Don't share your gum with him.

2. If you need a haircut, your car fixed, dinner cooked, the history of WWII explained, a piece of furniture constructed, clothes mended, a picture painted, or a precise budget calculated, Jamie is your man.

3. Jamie is my own personal Survivorman/Bear Grylls. Sometimes he gets teased about it, but if you are stuck in the wilderness you want to be with him. He knows everything about survival. Seriously.

4. He went on an LDS mission to Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, learned some Mandarin, and came back in love with Asian culture. When we were first dating I saw that my phone number in his cell phone was labeled "Abby shi mei li." It took me days to figure out that it meant, "Abby is beautiful." He's a keeper.

5. Jamie cannot end a conversation very well. I try to teach him but he thinks it is rude that I'm like, "Ok, bye."

6. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but one of his favorite movies is Pride and Prejudice. We love watching it together and laughing at Mr. Collins. Then his other favorite movie is probably something like Bourne Identity, so it's all good.

Yeah for Jamie!

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

After months of shopping around and being all-around indecisive, we bought a Canon Elph today in 7 minutes flat. Probably an impulse buy, but I don't care. I am so excited to use this puppy. Emily and Steve, be glad to know that your Christmas pictures will be taken with this, rather than a mid-90s piece of junk.

Favorite words and phrases of Lo-Lo James

{photo by kelly mccaleb}

"Go Wonder Pets!" (new favorite show)

"Soda?" (new favorite drink)

"Candy?!" (new favorite food)

"Nighttime. Nighttime. Time for sleep." (singing)

"Bug! I get it!" (Then he kills it. My hero!)

"Abby! Jamie! Gerald!" (Instead of mommy, daddy, grandpa.)

"Hi Pearl! Hi babes! Hi sugar!" (And then Pearl coos so violently she starts coughing. Love it.)

I watch this a lot

which is funny because I don't like Moby at all. We get it Moby, you sing bass. Rufus is wonderful. Sean Lennon is handsome. This song is kind of moving for me. Don't know why.

Is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?

Jamie and I hate taking pictures. We look at photos and say, "Oh, that's what I look like. Hmm." I guess we think we are better looking than we are. (Is that pride or is that low self-esteem?) But we take lots of pictures in this family anyway, because I love how photographs capture memories so wonderfully and become art too.

The lovely Kelly McCaleb took our photos last weekend and did a fantastic job. The girl's got talent. I'm officially obsessed with some of the pictures of the kids. And I've already made a mental note that the Ramona Quimby, Age 8 haircut isn't working for me. Check.

Here are some of my favorites.

That was a lot. I really love them all. There are a a couple more on her blog today. (Check out the former Brandi Stoneman's family, too.) Thanks, Kelly!

Emily met Fabio

So I am thinking, who have I met? Famous-wise?

Margaret Thatcher. Prime Minister of England 1979-1990.

Pretty good, but that is it.

My point is, I want to meet more famous people. Hold the Fabio.

I'm a winner.

I just won this piece by Mark Elliot. I love it. His wife is giving away a ton of his art. I think she'll be doing more. Check it out.

"Break me off a piece of that...Fancy Feast."

Formula for getting things done (like that laundry all over the floor):

Give Milo a piece of candy.

Set him down in front of Shrek 2.

Repeat 10 times.

The sugar levels being ingested in this household are no joke. Someone please lend me their kid to entertain Milo so he can take his mind off candy. Halloween really is an evil holiday.

i'm in love i'm in love and I don't care who knows it!

I have spent much of my life in search of the perfect hoodie, and it is here, folks.

Not very exciting, I know, but fabulous nonetheless. And for less than 13 Mr. Washingtons.

that's laughable

Pearl started laughing for the first time last night!

I am so grateful to know that my daughter hasn't inherited my hated silent laugh.
